This guide will show you how easy it is to insert a HDD into the dreambox, to make the unit behave like a PVR.

Parts needed :

Screwdriver
IDE Harddrive (Any Brand is good) preferably 5400/7200 RPM.

1. Open up the cover on the dreambox. There are three screws on the back of the dreambox, and 2 on each side. When the screws are removed, firmly remove the cover (Move it first backwards, and then up).

In the middle you have the white drive bay, this is the slot where the harddrive should be mounted. To the right you have an IDE-Flat Cable, and to the left you have the power cable

3. Now put the Harddrive on the table.

Notice the screws from the chassi to the right. On the HDD you have from left : Power Connector, Jumper settings (in the middle) and to the right the slot for the IDE-Cable

4. Now make sure that you have the correct "jumper" settings for the harddrive. The black jumper should be put on the pins for "MASTER". See the attached HDD manual or the instructions on the harddrive how to set the jumper correctly.


5.Pull out the cables, so that you know which ones to you (you can't do WRONG).

To the LEFT, Power Cable. To the right IDE-Cable.

6. Now plug in the cables to the Harddrive. Notice the RED colour on one side on the IDE-Cable, that colour should be next towards the POWER plug.


7. Now put the HDD in the Drive Bay. Mount the HDD with the screwdriver (with the included 4 screws which u got together with the Harddrive). Firmly bend the IDE cable so that it will not get in the way for the chassi.



8. Put on the "hood" again, plug in power and start up the Dreambox 7020 again. Since there are so many "images" out, we will not show how to format the HDD. The HDD will be mounted automatically in /hdd on the filesystem. So just format the drive, and then you can start to record your tv programs.
